This is written to be honest and easy to read, not to be a substitute for a lawyer's review. TwoNests is a small beta project run by one person for a handful of families โ€” if anything here is unclear, just email twonests@outlook.com and ask.
Your family's data

Privacy Policy

TwoNests exists to help two households coordinate care for a shared child. Here's what that means for your data.

What we collect

  • Account info: the name and username you choose, and a securely hashed password (we never store your actual password โ€” see "How your password is protected" below). If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we also store the email address and account ID that provider gives us.
  • Family & child info: your child's name, birthday, and avatar; whatever calendar events, care logs (food/sleep/medicine/potty), handoff checklists, moments, photos, ideas, Village contacts, shared expenses, and notes you and your co-parent choose to add.
  • Nothing you don't put in yourself. TwoNests doesn't track your location, browse your contacts, or collect anything passively in the background.

Who can see it

  • Only the people you invite into your family โ€” your co-parent (full access) and any supporters you approve (grandparents, babysitters, etc., limited to whatever you specifically share with them).
  • The developer (me โ€” Sterling) can access the underlying database to fix bugs, respond to support requests, or investigate abuse, but doesn't read family data as a matter of course.
  • Nobody else. TwoNests doesn't sell data, doesn't run ads, and doesn't share your family's information with data brokers or marketers, period.

Where it's stored

  • Calendar events, logs, notes, and all other structured data live in a hosted Postgres database (Neon), encrypted in transit.
  • Moments photos/videos are currently stored on the app server's disk. Because TwoNests runs on a free hosting tier during beta, uploaded media can occasionally be lost on a server restart โ€” this is a known limitation being actively worked on (moving to permanent cloud storage), not something you did wrong.
  • Your session (which family/account you're logged in as) is kept in your browser's local storage, not a tracking cookie.

Google & Microsoft sign-in

If you choose to sign in with Google or Microsoft instead of a username/password, TwoNests only ever receives your name, email address, and a unique account ID from that provider โ€” enough to identify you, nothing more. We don't request access to your email inbox, calendar, contacts, or files, and we never post anything on your behalf. You can still set a regular username/password at any time from Settings.

How your password is protected

Passwords are never stored as plain text. Each one is salted and hashed before it's saved, so even in the unlikely event of a database breach, your actual password isn't exposed.

Children's data

TwoNests is a tool for parents to coordinate care for their kids โ€” it isn't used directly by children, and we don't knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 13. Information about a child (name, birthday, care logs, photos) is entered by their parent, for that family's own coordination use only.

Your control over your data

You can edit or delete anything you've added โ€” events, logs, moments, notes โ€” right from the app; that standard applies to everything. To delete your account entirely or request a full export of your family's data, email twonests@outlook.com.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the "last updated" date at the top of this page will change and, where practical, active users will be notified in-app.

Using the app

Terms of Service

By creating a TwoNests account, you're agreeing to these terms.

What TwoNests is (and isn't)

TwoNests is a care-coordination tool โ€” a shared calendar, logs, and light communication space for co-parents. It is not a legal service, does not provide legal or medical advice, and nothing in the app constitutes or replaces a custody order, parenting plan, or court filing. For legal matters, please consult a qualified attorney; for medical concerns about your child, consult a licensed medical professional.

Beta software

TwoNests is currently in beta, built and maintained by a single developer. That means: bugs happen, features change, and the free hosting tier it currently runs on can be briefly slow to wake up after inactivity and isn't guaranteed to be available 100% of the time. Please don't rely on TwoNests as your only record of anything safety-critical (like medication dosing) without also keeping your own backup notes for now.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information about yourself and your family.
  • Keep your password (or SSO account) secure, and let us know right away if you think your account has been accessed without permission.
  • Use TwoNests respectfully โ€” it's built for care coordination between people raising a child together, not for harassment, surveillance, or anything that would put a child at risk.
  • Only invite people you genuinely want to have access to your family's information; a co-parent has full access, and you control what supporters can see.

Account suspension

We reserve the right to suspend or remove an account that's used to harass another user, misuse a child's data, or otherwise abuse the service.

Limitation of liability

TwoNests is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer isn't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including data loss (see the note above about beta-tier photo storage).

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as TwoNests grows past beta. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version.
